vegan eats world is the perfect cookbook for those of us with itchy feet, taking our tastebuds all over the world with dishes from east to west and in between. you'll be tempted with the likes of everything from peruvian purple potato salad to jamaican plantain and pumpkin curry.
however when you do get your hands on this book, my recommendation is that you flip to page 316 and make the paella first. artichoke skillet paella with chorizo tempeh crumbles to be exact.
do not pass go. do not collect $200. just make the paella first. and whatever you do, don't skip making your own tempeh chorizo crumbles - not only is it incredibly easy, but smokey and spicy and so delicious. and the paella only calls for a 1/2 batch which is also perfect because if you're like me, you will definitely find yourself snacking on it as it simmers up in the pan..
two of my trusty favourites from the testing days remain the shanghai kale dumplings in sesame sauce (note: there is an entire chapter devoted to dumplings, breads & pancakes!!) and the tenacious tart tatin (aka the french caramelized apple tart).
once again terry has outdone herself and we are lucky little home kitchen chefs for it. do yourself a favour and get your hands on vegan eats world. cracked the spine already? i'd love to hear what your favourite dishes are!
now if you'll excuse me, i have some more bookmarking to do...
Vegan Eats World is at the top of my "most wanted" list right now. Everything I see posted about it looks amazing. This post included. I love how colorful the food is.
ReplyDeleteThis definitely on my must get list, right after Betty Goes Vegan
ReplyDeleteI'm with Nikki - this is the one cookbook out that I am really desirous of. Yr photos are great. I'm glad you have time to enjoy it, even with the little one needing so much of yr time!
ReplyDeleteI made the tandoori tofu from VEW a couple of days ago, and my husband was just over the moon for it. He said, "Now whose recipe is that again?" When I told him it was Terry Hope, we both said in unison, "Of course." Viva Vegan is one of my all-time favorites, and she definitely didn't let us down with VEW! I'm going to make the paella this week! I haven't tried it yet, but your pictures look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat paella looks amazing and so do those dumplings! I have a copy of VEW on my bookshelf with hundreds of pages bookmarked- I have just not been in the recipe following mood recently. I think that's about to change, though! :-)
ReplyDeleteI won a copy of VEW back in Novemeber and was super excited! But I'll admit, it kind of intimidates me and so I've yet to make anything. Apparently I should start with the paella? ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat food looks and sounds amazing. I have some very neglected cookbooks right now, but think I will have to add this one to our list anyway.

Your recipes look delicious, but I am especially crazy about those blue individual casserole dishes with the big handles.
